A whiplash injury occurs when the soft tissue of your neck is damaged due to an abrupt, dramatic jerking motion of the head. Whiplash injuries are common after involvement in a car accident, especially those resulting from an impact to the back of the vehicle. This type of injury typically affects the disks in the neck, as well as the ligaments. Symptoms of whiplash may include back pain, ringing in the ears, visual disturbances, arm weakness and pain, jaw pain, fatigue, dizziness, shoulder pain, headache and neck pain.

Careful, ongoing chiropractic care can reduce or eliminate many uncomfortable whiplash symptoms. The primary chiropractic treatments available include spinal manipulation and soft tissue rehabilitation. When used together, these treatments can alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with the injury. Chiropractic care may also help you improve function and mobility in the affected area. During a spinal manipulation treatment, the chiropractor will apply a controlled force to the joints in your neck, by either using his hands or a medical device.

Soft Tissue Rehabilitation Therapy

If you are suffering from Whiplash injury, Xtreme Spine & Joint can help you find relief. The team at Xtreme Spine & Joint is led by Dr. Robert Gordon, a graduate of Life University School of Chiropractic. Dr. Gordon believes that chiropractic care should focus on the whole person, as opposed to just one part of the body. His ultimate goal in treating every patient is to discover the underlying cause of the pain, discomfort and other symptoms experienced.

After determining the root of the patient's problems, Dr. Gordon uses the information to develop a comprehensive treatment plan designed to address not only the symptoms themselves, but also their underlying causes. During soft tissue rehabilitation therapy, your therapist will use massage and other related techniques on the affected area. The goal of both spinal manipulation and soft tissue therapy is to relieve pain and improve mobility.
